On Tea

Preface

Tea has been appreciated for a long time. More and more forms of literature appeared after the release of <Tea Classic> by Luyu. Hundred of articles were written in the form of chronicles, records, prose and poems. Mr. Meishan once said “It would consume all the bamboo growing in the Nan Mountain if a subject is to be studied thoroughly”. Ten-chapters <On tea> however are written by Huang Zixiang with this pursuit.

Cheng Youyu has been collecting interesting material to enrich this book. The book is refined with novelty and delicate words. One will experience refreshment and coolness as if inhaling brisk air. After this book is completed and prefaced, it will be handed over within a short period of time.  <Tea classic> by Luyu is about tea in the Tang Dynasty whereas <Tea tasting> by Daofu is about tea in the Song Dynasty, <On tea> by Huang Zixiang and <Supplement> by Cheng Youyu is about tea in the Ming Dynasty.  These three dynasties are governed respectively and the policies on tea vary.  History is incomplete without records of contemperary changes and events. It is considered immortality to have your work studied by literate to observe its principles and to be judged by new generations.
