Wuyuan town is recognized as one of the most beautiful towns in China. Wuyuan's tea history dates back to the Tang Dynasty. Some Wuyuan Teas were listed as tribute teas in Ming and Qing Dynasty. It started to be exported in big quantities since Qianlong's Time in the Qing Dynasty. The export lasts up to modern times. Wuyuan Xianzhi has a slender, curled and fine appearance and a subtle taste. Wuyuan Xianzhi is one among many fine green teas produced in this area. Wuyuan tea is very characteristic for green tea in general.
Appearance Leaf: Wuyuan Xianzhi is slend, slightly curled. With white fur on some buds and leaves. The Colour is fresh jade green.
Liquid: Light yellow
Taste: Mellow with soft aftertaste

To brew Wuyuan Xianzhi, first put dry tea leaves (ratio leaves to water, 1:50) into the gaiwan, porcelain or glass teapot, then pour 90 degree boiled water into the teaware. Another brewing method that can be used for tis tea is to first pour boiled water to about one third of the glass/cup/teapot, next put dry tea leaves in the glass and then again pour 90 degree hot water into the glass/cup/teapot till about 70%.This method is often used as a way to avoid the tender leaves to become damaged by the cooking hot water. Steeping time for first round can be up to 15 to 20 seconds. Steeping time can be prolonged with each subsequent brew. This tea can be brewed for 3 rounds.
